Guernsey's Ben Coulter challenges Andrew Bird during last year's Muratti final.

THE Muratti has a new sponsor in Kleinwort Benson.

The bank has signed a three-year deal with the Channel Islands Inter-Insular Football Committee that will secure sponsorship for the men’s and women’s competitions until 2012, although the cash value has not been disclosed.

This season’s Muratti Vase semi-final takes place on Saturday 20 March when Alderney host Jersey for the right to face Guernsey in the final at Springfield on the rescheduled date of Saturday 8 May.

The change of date is due to Guernsey’s potential involvement in the final of the National League Systems Cup, which takes place on the same weekend as the original scheduled date – Bank Holiday Monday 3 May.

At present the Women’s Muratti final remains on Sunday 2 May in Jersey, but this is also subject to change due to the possibility that Guernsey may be asked to host the NLS Cup final on the same date.

The Inter Insular Committee is keen to avoid clashing with the Siam Cup, which is also being played in Guernsey on the same weekend.
