Danger beds ripped out

The disused Guernsey Sea Farms beds made headlines at the start of last month after a man was impaled on a metal spike while searching for ormers.
But managing director Mark Dravers said the beds would be replaced and the industry would go on.
It was hard work getting the metal out in just a small tidal window, he added.
‘We have only got an hour and a half to two hours to work on them so we are under great pressure,’ said Mr Dravers. ‘It is a very difficult job, but we are really going for it on this tide to get this finished.’
The beds were put down more than 15 years ago, said Mr Dravers.

Are these commercial ‘ormer beds’ a danger to the beach-going public? If one adult man can be ‘spiked’ by them, what about youngsters paddling or swimming on the ocean?

If anyone lets their children paddle or swim around Houmet Paradis they need locking up for child endangerment!

please read the artical correctly thay are oyster beds not ormer beds and i agree with mrspinthepantry there are plenty of beach’s around the island use a diffrent beach a! our fishing industry is in dire straits as it is the OYSTERS have as much right to be there as we do !!!!
