DIVISION One leaders Belgrave Wanderers are set to claim the league title shortly – it may even happen today  – but they have won once this season already.

Yesterday,  they were crowned the GFA’s Specsavers Team of the Month.

The award is judged on disciplinary points and marks from match day referees on the behaviour of players, coaches and spectators, and, Bels were the top-performing team in January.

The club have used their cash prize to buy warm-up jackets and shirts, which will be branded with Specsavers and Respect logos.

Bels senior coach Ian Champion said: ‘This award is really important for Bels and our sponsors, Richmond Fiduciary Group.

‘To be seen as a club which is not only winning games, but winning them in the right way is really important to us, and we are really proud of this honour.’
