Terry MumbyA LOCAL man has been reunited with his father after 70 years – thanks to Facebook.

Terry Mumby, 71, had not seen his father, George Mumby, since he was a baby and had been trying for years to track him down.

Every attempt failed, but when Sophie, 23, a niece he never knew he had, messaged him on the social networking site, the search for his 98-year-old father was over.

‘Words just can’t describe how I felt when I read the message,’ said Mr Mumby (pictured), a former computer manager.

‘The message said something like she was trying to find a Terrence Mumby, the son of George.

‘I immediately replied and the next day we had a two-hour conversation.’

Mr Mumby has now visited his father, who lives in Norfolk, twice.

He also discovered that he has two sisters, Georgina, 60, and Maribel, 49, and a 63-year-old brother, Clifford, who is known as Monty.

What a great story about Facebook as we always seem to hear the negative side.
