Investment manager puts retirement on hold for China
Monday 8th March 2010, 2:30PM GMT.
ONE of the world’s leading investment managers has been in Guernsey outlining why he sees China as a land of opportunity for his new fund.
Anthony Bolton, who has developed a reputation as one of the UK’s most successful investors for the past 30 years, floats the much-discussed £650m. Fidelity China Special Situations next month.
He was in the island speaking to investment and finance professionals at a seminar arranged by the sole UK brokers of the fund, Cenkos Securities.
Mr Bolton, 60 (pictured) , said the allure of running a fund out of China had put his retirement plans on hold.
He moves out to the country full-time on Sunday and aims to hand over the fund in two to three years’ time.
Mr Bolton said China had a lot going for it and therefore had massive potential for a ‘stock picker’ like himself.
