GUERNSEY’S indoor cricketers were shown how much they need to improve before playing in the next world cup when they were whitewashed by England in the three test series at the weekend.

The Sarnians are hoping to send a side to the 2011 Indoor World Cup in South Africa, but against England, who sent over the team that took part in the 2009 World Cup in Brisbane, Australia in October, they were found wanting.

With the sport new to the island since the indoor centre opened last year, there were no surprises that the English came away with a 3-0 victory.

‘It’s always disappointing to lose every game but we competed really well,’ said Guernsey captain Lee Savident.

‘We now know where our shortfalls are. This has given us the experience to find out where we’re going wrong but I’m very pleased with how we’ve played.’

The first test took place after work on Friday evening.
