Teenager has the books in her head
Tuesday 9th March 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
A ST SAMPSON’S HIGH student has written her own fantasy novel.
Toni Mauger, 13 (pictured), started to write Moon Light Eclipse in the summer holidays last year.
She has now completed it and hopes to get it published.
‘I started doing it because I really like writing and using my imagination,’ she said. ‘I feel really happy to have completed it and very proud.’
Miss Mauger, an only child, told her parents that she wanted to write something.
‘They told me to go for it and I did. I have been working on it whenever I have time and my parents are really pleased.
‘My cousin said it was really good and some of my friends have already read it. It’s a book for the whole family to read.’
Moon Light Eclipse is about a young boy who was put in an orphanage.
There is a mysterious man in the orphanage and the boy finds out secrets about his family and why he was put in the institution.

Congratulations, it’s nice to see some positive reporting on teenagers.
However, what relevance does it have that she’s an only child? Are they saying that it’s more of an achievement coz she is one?

Congratulaions Toni, you will never regret your love of writing stories. And if writing and becoming an author is truly your passion then PLEASE never swerve from that path…. never let life in any of it’s forms be it boys, job, marriage, etc, get in the way of your dream. In other words…do not lose your direction and get old, one day realising that life -and your dream – has passed you by. I do not know who wrote the following, but copy it onto a piece of card and leave it in front of you at your writing table and other places. The words are….” Do what you love, stay true to your heart and results will come…”
Good luck.

It’s great to see imagination is still alive and well, and the practical application to make good use of it.
