Insurer plans in island base

MORE than 30 directors and senior managers of Barbican Insurance Group got together in Guernsey for a two-day strategy and planning meeting.
The forum affirmed the company’s commitment to the island just a year after becoming licensed as the first Lloyds underwriter to write business in Guernsey through its trading entity Barbican Channel Islands.
Barbican Group Holdings Ltd made Guernsey its headquarters when it was established.
Although Barbican Channel Islands has just one staff member in its offices in Le Bordage, St Peter Port, it was recruiting more and looking at new office space.
‘Although Barbican was launched only in 2007, we are meeting our growth targets and are now planning our next steps,’ said chief executive David Reeves.
‘Guernsey is where we have headquartered the business and so it seemed like the natural place for us all to meet.’
