A MAN accidentally set fire to his large shed in Rue du Friquet yesterday afternoon.
John Mahy, 78, had a bonfire going on his regular spot when the blaze spread to the building’s roof.
‘I’ve been burning stuff there for donkey’s years without a problem and I’ve got a metal screen to protect the shed,’ he said.
‘I was the other side of the shed when I heard the asbestos sheets starting to crack and I saw the fire.’
The shed is close to the Le Friquet Plant Centre and Mr Mahy said somebody in there must have seen the blaze before him and called Fire and Rescue.
