Podium potential

DALE GARLAND has been tipped to return with a medal from this weekend’s IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The Aviva Great Britain and Northern Ireland team head coach Charles van Commenee has targeted a return of four medals, one of which he believes could come from the men’s 4x400m relay squad, which includes the Guernsey star.
‘We will have strong medal contenders and we always have a few who knock on the door,’ said van Commenee, who tipped Dwain Chambers, Jessica Ennis and Jenny Meadows for podium places.
The 29-year-old Garland (pictured) was selected for the GB team after competing in the Aviva Grand Prix and Midland Counties Open at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham last month.
