AN OUTSTANDING team performance saw Guernsey win the Under-11 Muratti for the first time since 2003 in Jersey at the weekend.
Jon Lilley, one of the team’s coaches, could not hide his pride in his young team and praised their achievement to the hilt.
‘We have not beaten Jersey for seven years, so it was a great feeling to win,’ he said.
‘It was really hard, a very difficult game, but I think our quality shone through in the end.
‘All the squad played really well.’
After a frantic start at Grainville, Guernsey opened the scoring on 14 minutes through Finlay Whitmore.
