States can reel in its spending
Thursday 11th March 2010, 2:30PM GMT.
A LARGE majority of firms quizzed for the annual business trends survey believe the States can reel in its spending.
The survey, carried out by Island Analysis for the Chamber of Commerce and Young Business Group, revealed that 86% agreed that expenditure could be reduced without adversely impacting on the level of public services – with 53% of those questioned strongly agreeing with the statement.
Chamber president Paul Luxon (pictured) said that the findings came as no surprise.
‘It’s been a recurring theme over recent years. If an organisation, or an island, sees its income drop, then something has to be done about its costs.
‘A business in a similar situation would definitely be looking to do something about costs to keep their organisation viable.’
