Five years for glassing man
Friday 12th March 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
THE Royal Court yesterday sent out a stark warning to violent criminals when a mother of three was jailed for five years.
Emily Jones, 28, struck Seamus Murphy in the face with a glass, causing a 6cm cut, in Les Folies d’Amour nightclub on 30 August 2008.
As blood streamed from Mr Murphy’s face, Jones punched out at him and when he fell to the floor, she kicked him in the head and upper body.
She denied unlawfully wounding Mr Murphy and assaulting him, but was found guilty at a five-day trial.
Advocate David Domaille said his client still denied glassing Mr Murphy.
Judge Russell Finch said Jones’s problems always seemed to be somebody else’s fault and she had maintained her false story in the face of overwhelming evidence. She had shown no remorse.
