Group’s new name will ensure clarity

A NAME change for the Guernsey Insurance Company Management Association will ensure it better reflects the interests of its members, according to chairman Dominic Wheatley.
The representative body, formed in 1983, will now be known as the Guernsey International Insurance Association.
The decision was taken at its AGM last month.
Mr Wheatley (pictured) said the previous name was too closely associated with the narrow focus of captive managers.
‘The membership not only encompasses them, it also includes bodies such as international commercial insurers, service providers, international life companies and personal members in the form of non-executive directors.
‘GICMA represented more the history than the current make-up of the organisation. This new name better reflects the constituency.’
