Search for Jonny picks up its pace

Jonny Dorey THE search for a Guernsey student missing in the USA is gaining momentum.

Jonny Dorey was last seen almost two weeks ago and friends and family are maintaining a high-profile campaign to find him.

Virginia Commonwealth University, where Mr Dorey was studying, has put up a $5,000 reward for information.

More than 17,000 people have now joined Facebook group Help find Jonny Dorey and donations being made to support the hunt could fund missing person adverts across the US.

‘We need to broaden our awareness campaign even further,’ said friend of the family and spokesman Bob Beebe.

He said many people had offered support including financial help and that he was looking to set up a charitable trust. ‘This could go towards taking out missing person adverts in newspapers and journals across the US as well as travel plans.’
