Holley cannot hide joy at win

Tuesday 16th March 2010, 2:29PM GMT.

Adrian HolleyIF THE measure of a good open tournament is the unpredictability of the draw and the potential for upsets, then the 2010 Northern Trust Guernsey Snooker Open held at the North Legion Club will go down as one of the very best.

On the day that two island stars lost to a second division player and Island Championship semi-finalist Scott Bradford exited at the first hurdle to a player more renowned for his pool, some things do not change as the final featured an all-premier line-up, which included Martyn Desperques.

That he did not win is down to Adrian Holley (pictured) , who came through four rounds, including a tough semi against Martin Budge, in which he dropped just one frame to deliver a superbly solid final performance to beat his former teammate 3-1.

Desperques cannot complain either, after carrying all the momentum into the final having defeated Adam Shorto in the semi thanks to breaks of 62 and 74, the highest of the competition.
