JERSEY made it five inter-insulars on the trot on Sunday.

The home side demolished Guernsey 55-24 in the Open A netball contest at Fort Regent.

It wrapped up a miserable weekend for the Sarnians as they lost seven of the eight inter-insular matches across the age groups.

‘They were just head and shoulders above us,’ said Guernsey coach Denise Bourgaize.

‘They were good and they played brilliantly. The girls tried but you’ve got to give credit where it’s due.’

In the highly-anticipated Open A match there was little to fault in the Jersey seven as they wowed the crowds with incredible athleticism, an unrivalled hunger for the ball, and a first class ability to read the game, snatch interceptions, and keep Guernsey under continuous pressure.

But the under 14s had a great game and won! And two young Guernsey girls were chosen by the English umpires as the best players of their respective matches. Well done, everyone!
