Jersey claim final rubbers to edge to overall victory

DESPITE travelling to Jersey with a strong squad across all groups Guernsey were unable to clinch the inter-insular squash title.

Hosted at Jersey Squash Club, St Clements, once again the title came down to the final few matches with the southern isle eventually coming out on top.

Guernsey Squash & Racketball took an early lead, immediately putting pressure on the Jersey team’s shoulders.

Guernsey veteran Lynn Goodall put the first point on the board with a convincing 3-0 win over her Jersey counterpart followed by a similar victory by Larry Grover, recently selected by England Squash in the national squad.

In his match he showed shear guts, skill and determination to beat Jersey’s John Farley in five tough games and helped warm up the Guernsey team members’ voices.
