A PRIMARY school student has helped to persuade the Medical Specialist Group to cut its office waste by half.

Thomas Gough, 7, from Hautes Capelles, nagged his mother Gemma, a PA at the group, until a recycling scheme was introduced at her work.

But Mrs Gough said giving in to the pestering had been worth it.

‘I was receiving a constant ear bashing from my son that the MSG should recycle and eventually I agreed it was time to put words into action,’ she said.

With the help of carefully labelled recycling bins in the kitchens at both the Mill House and Alexandra House premises, together with paper and cardboard recycling boxes in the offices, the group has managed to reduce its weekly rubbish by 50%.

Well done to this lad for causing the MSG to change it’s attitude.

What disturbs me is that, until recently, a high profile local company was causing recyclable material to go direct into landfill.
What sort of message does this give out, and how many more similar organizations are still not recycling as much as they should?
