SHIP & Crown Puffins denied Cenkos Amazons the double with a high-scoring victory over their big rivals in the final of the Women’s Cup.

Amazons wrapped up the Investec Women’s Division recently and the most dominant side in local hockey were favourites to take the cup as well.

But Puffins had other ideas at sunny Foote’s Lane, as they came away with a startling 6-3 win.

‘Puffins thoroughly deserved their win,’ said Amazons captain Leigh Le Page. ‘Unfortunately, we didn’t play as well as we have been this season and Puffins took full advantage.’

Puffins started the game stronger with some fantastic running down the right wing from Island Games athlete Kim Goodall.
