THE Guernsey Branch of the Pony Club had its Lead Rein & Beginner Cross-Country on a fantastic course on fields in the Castel by kind permission of the Higgs Family.

There was a very diverse range of jumps from logs and hay bales to tyres and rustic fences, with an optional bank to scale followed by further jumps for those beginners feeling more adventurous.

The weather throughout the week and on the day could not have been better and provided the ideal conditions.

In the beginners’ class, Lucy Ferris rode Willow solidly and was the closest to matching her two timed rounds earning her first place overall.

Second place went to Lauren Domaille riding Casper, who although needed coaxing to jump a couple of fences in the first round, never looked back even though Domaille chose to attempt the bank and additional jumps.

They completed the second round faultlessly and at warp speed.
