Guernsey regain the Leadbeater Shield

GUERNSEY came out on top of a close contest to claim the Leadbeater Shield at the Rohais Badminton Halls.
The shield is contested at both U-15 and U-12 age groups with the combined match scores making up the overall result for the trophy.
It is also an opportunity to let younger players have a taste for inter-insular play, which may not be available to them as they get older and develop as players.
In the under-12 match Jersey could field only six boys and no girls but the Guernsey coaches decided to field a mixed team, so that none of the Guernsey girls would necessarily miss out on playing an inter-insular.
The Caesarean side were also slightly generous on actual age limit. This male dominance resulted in a 12-9 overall win at this age group.
