‘Sightings’ of missing Jonny prove false

Jonny DoreyMULTIPLE sightings of missing Guernsey student Jonny Dorey have been reported to American police, but all have proved false.

The 22-year-old former Elizabeth College student (pictured) has been missing for three weeks today, despite the Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Marshals joining the search.

He disappeared from Virginia Commonwealth University Richmond campus, where he was studying geography, on Tuesday 2 March and has not been heard from since.

A massive search effort also featuring Richmond and Virginia State Police, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross is continuing.

The wide-reaching awareness campaign that was started by friends and family on Facebook has spread through the American media.

Virginia Commonwealth University Police chief officer John Venuti said yesterday there had been numerous reported sightings of the Guernseyman, but none turned out to be credible once investigated.
