Vandals target Corbet
Tuesday 23rd March 2010, 2:30PM GMT.

Saturday’s FA Carlsberg National League System Cup semi-final match between Guernsey and Dorset might need a new venue after the Corbet Field was vandalised by someone on a quad bike. Pictured yesterday is groundsman Dave Le Noury.
GUERNSEY’S crucial FA Carlsberg National League System Cup semi-final on Saturday could be moved from the Corbet Field after the pitch was vandalised with a quad bike.
An individual or individuals mindlessly rode a small four-wheeled machine all over the soft football field.
That left deep tyres marks, and ridges have been cut into the surface, making it very uneven.
The incident is estimated to have taken place between 9 and 10pm on Sunday night.
‘They are just morons,’ said the president of Vale Rec, Tony Smith, who spent all yesterday morning working on the damage.
‘I can’t understand anyone with that mentality.’

This is disgraceful! Dave works so hard on the football pitch for some idiots to wreck it?! Well if you’re person who did this and read this, I really hope for your sake the police find you first not Dave ‘cos he’s a Guern through and through and believe me! The police would be alot more pleasent to you then he would! I hope your quad gets run over by a 70 year old guern riding his tractor! honestly some people today are thugs for no reason apart from the reason they give in court “I know I did wrong, I’m sorry, you see I’ve been having a bad time recently my nan died” No excuse for wreckless thinking or doing! NONE!

@ LeNoury’s Fam, the problem is, is that when these people are caught they are bought to no justice! This person will be cautioned or given a small fine at most! Make the chump sew every single grain of grass he has ripped up!

Couldn’t agree more, but the problem is catching those responsible
One thing strikes me as odd in the photo though.
I would have expected the tyre marks left on the pitch from a four wheeled quad bike to be more or less parallel, but those in the photo seem single tracked. Can anyone explain why?

@ mista joon. Correct if the vehicle was travelling in a straight line. Not if it is cornering or skidding. Take 2 pens in your hand and put both nibs to the paper. If you draw a straight line you will see two parallel lines. Turn your hand as if you were skidding on a corner and you will see the lines decrease in width.

re Bart: you are absolutely correct. And it is not only happening in Guernsey. I live at the other side of the world and the pathetic ‘slap on the wrist’ handed out to thugs of all stripes here is sickening. Are those who create our laws and hand out penalties for breaking them afraid of these thugs or what? Where I live, an evil sicko has been in jail for years for systematically killing seven young children. His name is Clifford Olsen. He has a cosy cell, TV & internet, the whole works…he even sends sick email letters to the families of his victims! And today, news has been released that he has reached OAP age and is now elligible for and is receiving an old age pension of $14,000 per annum from the public purse, which just happens to be more than many other pensioners recieve per annum!
Have we all become lunatics for allowing this to continue or what?!! And how do we stop it?
