A TEENAGE motorist had to be cut from her car after it left the road at Rue d’Albecq yesterday.
The 17-year-old was driving from Albecq towards Cobo when the incident occurred shortly after 8.30am. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
A spokesman for the Ambulance and Rescue Service said that as the driver had complained of neck pain, a decision had been taken to cut the roof off the Volkswagen Polo. The casualty was removed using an extrication device before being transferred onto a spinal board.
Fire and Rescue Service assistant training officer Tim Falla said the casualty had been removed in the safest and most precautionary manner.
‘It was not time critical and we just needed to make sure that she was as comfortable as possible,’ he said.
The road was closed during the process and the patient was taken to hospital.
