VAMOOSH and Tomahawk claimed overall honours as a highly successful 2010 Heritage Group Frostbite Winter Series came to an exciting climax.

The final race of the series, organised by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club, was contested in the Little Russel on Saturday morning.

Blustery wind conditions, force five-six from the south/south west, maintained a lumpy sea for the 15 yachts – six of them in the cruiser class – to battle it out not only for race number six but also for the overall honours.

The consolation was that for this race the air temperature was quite tolerable and the rain managed to hold off.

In fact, only five races have been completed in the series since gales and the subsequent dangerous conditions had forced the abandonment of the first race in January.
