NO FEWER that eight gala records were broken this weekend as members of the Beau Sejour Barracudas and Guernsey Swimming Club took part in some fast and exciting swimming at the Specsavers 50m Sprint Gala staged by the Guernsey Amateur Swimming Association.

There was some impressive swimming from Hampshire champions 13-year-olds Kristina Neves and Miles Munro.

Both swimmers won all four events to score a maximum of 24 points to take the overall gold award in the age group.

For both swimmers, this was their fourth consecutive weekend of competing, but they showed little signs of fatigue.

Neves set new gala records in all bar one event, with Munro setting new marks in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.

Oliver Nightingale took a notable record previously held by Thomas Hollingsworth in the 14-year 50m backstroke, as he touched in 30.38.
