POLICE in America are now focusing their search for a missing Guernseyman along the James River.
His personal items were found on its north bank.
Jonny Dorey, 22 (pictured), an exchange student at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, has been missing for more than three weeks.
Details of personal belongings, found by a member of public on Wednesday along the James River in Richmond, have yet to be released by the police.
Local newspaper the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that they included a backpack and clothes.
‘Jonny is still missing, regardless of the fact that they have found these items,’ said family spokesman Bob Beebe.
‘The family are obviously deeply concerned but they have to remain hopeful about the situation.’
Mr Dorey’s parents Alan and Debbie made an emotional video appeal earlier this week, which was aired just hours before the discovery of the personal items.
