THE search in the USA for Guernsey student Jonny Dorey continues.

After more than three weeks without any major leads, Virginia Police said they had located some of the 22-year-old exchange student’s belongings next to the James River on Wednesday.

Search and rescue boats have been scouring the water since, but have found nothing.

Captain Grant Warren of the Virginia Commonwealth University Police said the work was ongoing yesterday.

‘We are continuing the search at the river and there are no further leads at the moment,’ he said.

People on the boats used poles and hooks to attempt to gather material from the water but no divers have yet been deployed.

The belongings were found in a hollow area under a large concrete pad beside the river.
