Simon SharrottSIMON SHARROTT described it as ‘an awful game’ but his Guernsey team came away from London South Africa with the all-important 19-7 win and two points on Saturday.

‘I think half the lads had it in their heads that it was going to be an easy game after looking at London SA’s bad run of results over the last couple of months,’ said the Guernsey captain (pictured).

‘People just went over with a lackadaiscal attitude, but the thing with London South Africa is that, although they have been struggling, they are still quite a physical team and you have still got to beat that one factor.’

All the points came in the first half with Guernsey scoring three tries through man-of-the-match Cameron Patten with Shane Savage adding a couple of conversions.

‘We put ourselves under pressure in the second half. Our defence was quite good, but they should not have scored any points at all.’

I do hope Guernsey come up next season as my club in London 1 is hoping for a great game in the Channel Islands (at the RFU’s expense!)
