Aurigny blames numbers error for chaos, but passengers refute that

Aurigny TrislanderAURIGNY has admitted that none of its staff were at St Helier harbour on Sunday when some of its passengers had to take the ferry back to Guernsey because of fog.

Travellers said there was anger and confusion when it seemed there would not be enough seats, although were all able to get to Guernsey.

Aurigny commercial director Malcolm Coupar said the confusion was down to some passengers being double-counted on the list it gave to Condor.

‘Of those 150 seats there were 137 passengers who decided to travel by sea. Unfortunately, some confusion arose when pages of the passenger manifest faxed through to Condor were duplicated. Condor thought we had 180 passenger names, of which in reality many were double-counted.’

But three Guernsey-bound passengers refuted Aurigny’s claim about the manifest.
