Tuesday 30th March 2010, 1:00PM BST.

John CurranISLANDERS and businesses have benefited from the work done by the Office of Utility Regulation, according to its director-general.

John Curran was responding to comments made by Housing minister Dave Jones, who said the organisation was not providing value for money for consumers.

Deputy Jones is taking a requete to the States next month asking Commerce and Employment to review the office’s operations.

‘The OUR has over the past number of years delivered real benefits for consumers in terms of better prices, improved services and better choice. Regulation has also facilitated the introduction of new services. None of this would happen without regulation being applied to a very high standard,’ he said.
