A PROPOSED extension and improvements to existing facilities at the Foote’s Lane Garenne Stand should be ready to host the 2012 Siam Cup if all goes to plan.
The designs, which include a permanent club room for the Guernsey Rugby Club, a revised function room, a gym and additional tiered seating, are subject to final permissions, but are supported by the Guernsey Sports Commission, the GRUFC, the GIAAC and Culture and Leisure.
Stuart Falla, of the Foote’s Lane Stand Company Ltd, which has released details of the plans, is optimistic of having the project completed within a couple of years.
‘With a fair wind I would hope that the project will be “done and dusted” by the next time Guernsey hosts the Siam Cup in two years’ time,’ he said.
‘Several people have worked for a long time to fit the pieces together and deserve the support of the authorities to set the standard of our sporting infrastructure at the very highest level.’
The improved facilities will benefit all users of Foote’s Lane and are being provided free of charge to the States.
