TEN Town seafront properties lost power yesterday.
Businesses and flats had no power due to a fault in a low voltage main.
Repair work was delayed by the weather, resulting in some properties not getting power restored until 8pm.
A spokesman for Guernsey Electricity was not sure yesterday whether the fault was related to minor flooding from the high tide in the morning.
‘We’re not definite on the cause of the fault,’ he said. ‘Due to the weather conditions, it was hard locating the issue and conducting the repair work.’
Elvio Pires, of Smugglers Restaurant, had to cancel all dinner bookings.
‘There was no telling when we were going to get our electricity back and it would have been really embarrassing if those people had turned up and we had to turn them away,’ he said.
