SHOPPERS in Town yesterday afternoon were stopped in their tracks when Guernsey experienced its first flash mob.

More than 30 students turned up in the High Street and danced in time together to DJ Casper’s Cha Cha Slide while at the same time raising money for Les Bourgs Hospice.

It was an idea thought up by three Grammar School Sixth Form students who wanted to do something during the Easter holidays.

‘We had the idea at the beginning of the year that every month we would do something a bit fun to keep us busy,’ said one of them, Poppy Gradwell.

‘There’s not much for us to do so we thought to save ourselves from getting bored we would give ourselves a different challenge each month.’

On one side, young people who “have nothing to do” spend their time raising money for a good cause, on the other side, young people who “have nothing to do” spend their time destroying things of value to a good cause.
