Watson may reject invite

HEATHER WATSON will turn down the chance of playing alongside the world’s elite stars if she does not make the final in Jackson, Mississippi this weekend.

The unseeded Guernsey star has won her way through to the quarter-finals of the $25,000 ITF event in River Hills, Jackson.

But at the same time she has been awarded a wild card into the qualifiers for the massive Family Circle Cup WTA tour event in Charleston, which carries $700,000 in prizemoney and has world No. 1 Serena Williams as top seed.

Charleston have given clearance for a late qualifying start for Watson today, but she will pass up the fantastic opportunity if she makes it to the Jackson final tomorrow.
