Old Quarter is on the up

OLD QUARTER shop owners have said they would like to see it become more like Brighton’s famous Lanes shopping area if it is rejuvenated.
Following Gen Langford of The Gallery’s street parties, retailers have said the area has come alive of late.
Saiko owner Lucy Corbin (pictured) said she had seen an increase in shoppers. ‘I have been here three years and it is definitely busier. We’re really lucky to have people like Gen, who does so much in getting people to the area and promoting the need for a rejuvenation.’
Mrs Corbin said Old Quarter residents and retailers had been given a survey to complete. ‘It asked what we would like to see change,’ she said.
‘One of the things I suggested was retractable bollards at either end to go up at 10am on trade days to stop the traffic as it is a pedestrian area. And it could really do with a cashpoint. Really, I hope it stays different to the rest of Town and we just need a bit of support. It is a good area to be really quirky, like Brighton Lanes.’

I know this sounds sarcastic, but it isn’t meant to be. But, a CASHPOINT, thats simple genius. A cashpoint halfway down would be great. Would encourage impulse buys, and that sort of thing. Really good idea.

I am quite sure 99% of the shops there are equipped for card payments. A cash-point would be an attraction for hoodies on the rob IMO.
