Formed in 1984 The Risk played hi-energy powerpop with a 60s and new wave influence.

Essentially a three piece, the band’s main members have always been Mark Le Gallez vocals/bass and Colin Leach vocals/guitar and numerous drummers.

With the help of mod fanzine In The Crowd the band soon began to attract attention from outside the Island.

Played their first gig outside Guernsey in Dublin in 1985 and later appeared at a mod alldayer at Hammersmith Town Hall with groups such as The Rage, The Gents and The Purple Hearts.

Released single Forget the Girl which currently sells for about £45 on Ebay.

Band relocated to California in March 1986 and spent six months playing up and down the west coast.

Released first LP Loud Shirts and Stripes, recorded in San Diego, LP went to No.20 in Lille, France.

On return to Guernsey began writing and recording 2nd LP, An Invitation to the Blues.

In May 1987 The Risk set off on its first European tour and played Europe three more times.

Released third LP ‘Bitter Sweet’, relocated to Bristol in 1988 but decided to disband group to form the psychedelically tinged The Sacred Hearts.

Reformed in 2000 to record fourth LP, Songs From the Big Tomato.

The band occasionally reform when the mood takes them and time allows.

Played the Mods Maydayer 30th anniversary in May 2009.
