Ignore rumours, our ‘Gus’ is going nowhere say Tics

Wednesday 14th April 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Gus MackayDIVISION One new boys Athletics have taken the unusual step of posting a website statement on the future of one of their players.

Annoyed and disturbed by rumours that star player Angus Mackay, their former Oxford United and England Universities player, was to jump ship to St Martin’s, both Tics and Mackay (pictured) have posted a denial on the internet.

On their club site Tics describe the rumours as ‘totally untrue’.

The statement reads: ‘“Gus” is aware of where the rumours have emanated from and is happy for the club to make it clear that he WILL be playing for the Tics again next season and that he has no intention of leaving the club which has seen him make many good friends since moving here from the UK and make such a positive influence on the playing side.’

Mackay, who has greatly impressed since making his long-awaited debut in January after recovering from a second leg break, also insists that the stories of him leaving are laughable.
