Julian WinserCONFIDENCE among Guernsey businesses is now being replicated across the UK, according to a new study.

The Business Trends survey, carried out by accountants BDO, showed that business confidence had reached its highest level in four years, while output was also back at pre-recession levels.

New Chamber of Commerce president Julian Winser (pictured) said confidence returning to business in the UK was good news, especially as it supported the findings of the local organisation’s own survey, which was released last month and found that more than 40% of local companies were more confident about profitability projections this year.

However, he said it was also important to recognise that renewed confidence in the UK was a more important factor for its economy than it was locally because Guernsey had already fared better than the UK in recent times.
