Glen launches his own kerbside recycling
Thursday 15th April 2010, 1:00PM BST.
A MAN is setting up a kerbside recycling business and the Public Services Department has given its backing.
Delivery driver Glen Cooney (pictured) said he was fed up with States indecision over a waste strategy and decided to take matters into his own hands.
He is offering to pick up recyclables from homes and businesses once a fortnight for a £12 monthly fee.
‘A lot of people have talked about kerbside recycling, but it never came about.
‘I think a lot of people who recycle already and take it themselves will do it because it’s a service that will come to them,’ he said.
Deputy Public Services minister Scott Ogier said the department would support any private initiative that could help increase the island’s recycling rates.

I really hope this works out and Mr Cooney can make viable business out of it.
