PART of Cobo car park has been resurfaced – but the jury is still out on who owns the land.

Castel senior constable Bev Holliday said the work had to be done, even though a decision by HM Procureur on the legal owner is still awaited.

Thomas Holroyd says he bought the land from his mother at the end of 2007. He then asked for payment from shops including Checkers and Cobo Village Centre to allow customers to park there.

In January 2008, his company, A.W. Holdings, placed large stones at the car park entrance but Checkers owner Sandpiper had them removed.

Last year, cars were dumped to take up spaces but a group of islanders styling themselves as ‘the Guernsey Boys’ removed them.

The two sides have since been unable to agree ownership.
