Novices encouraged to try triathlon

Saturday 17th April 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Guernsey Triathlon ClubONCE again the Guernsey Triathlon Club is inviting islanders to take part in its annual novice and relay event on Sunday 25 April.

Targeted at beginners, the De Putron novice triathlon is aimed at newcomers to the sport to compete without the pressures of taking on seasoned triathletes.

The challenge is to complete a 400m swim in the Beau Sejour pool, an eight-mile cycle up to St Sampson’s and back and a final two-mile run around Cambridge Park.

Taking part in the triathlon has a history of being good healthy competition and a lot of fun, with plenty of opportunity for teammates and supporters to cheer each other on.

For those who would rather share the workload the relay event is open to teams of three dividing up the swim, bike and run stages.
