Rec wrap up first under-18 title in more than 10 years

VALE REC’S youngsters are celebrating after winning the Loveridge Cup to become under-18 champions for the first time in 11 years.
After a barren decade, they thrashed great rivals North 4-1 in the title play-off at Blanche Pierre Lane on Sunday, only four days after the same two sides battled out a 1-1 draw in the final match of the regular league season, a game which was itself a title decider.
Goals from Daena Bodie, Danny Ozanne and a Ross Hanley (pictured) double gave the yellows a 4-0 lead, before the chocolate-and-blues pulled back a late consolation strike.
Vale Rec assistant coach Mark Ogier, who himself has played for both clubs during his career, was delighted at the result and believed the better team came out on top.
