GUERNSEY returned from the first inter insular weekend with two of the three trophies contested.

Martyn Desperques just failed to defend his CI Snooker title, but helped claim the Snooker Upton and Team Billiards Inter-Insular.

The remaining two inter-insular matches – the individual billiards and team snooker – will be played in Guernsey on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Desperques’ attempt to become only the second Guernsey player to defend the CI Snooker title successfully succumbed at the hands of Aaron Canavan at the Jersey Mechanics Institute.

The Jersey champion produced near faultless snooker in running up a 3-0 lead in the best of seven final, although Desperques’ cause was hardly helped by having to hot-foot his way to the final from the boat.
