Vance is ‘blinded’ by volcanic ash
Tuesday 20th April 2010, 2:30PM BST.
TONY VANCE’S plans to go on a spying mission were scuppered by volcanic ash at the weekend.
The Guernsey coach was due to be on Merseyside on Saturday afternoon, watching the second FA Carlsberg National League System Cup semi-final between Liverpool County Premier League and Yorkshire Old Boys League.
Instead, with flights to the UK grounded, he made his way to the Track to see several of his island squad in Upton Park Trophy action.
‘The flights were booked so that I could cast my eye over our final opponents, but unfortunately I did not get the chance to see them,’ Vance (pictured) said.
‘It means we will have to go into the final “blind”.’
