AIRLINE passengers were left frustrated at the airport this morning as local flights to the UK remained grounded despite the opening of airspace.
The UK flight ban was lifted at 10 last night.
Aurigny and Flybe cancelled all their morning UK flights, while Blue Islands said it was planning to operate as close to schedule as possible.
An Aurigny spokesman said: ‘We have received advice from the CAA that airports across the UK will be open today and that new procedures will be put in place for operating.
‘We do not have any detail of what the new procedures are and therefore we will be unable to operate the majority of our UK flights this morning.’

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
I can understand why passengers might be frustrated but I think the airlines are right to wait for proper operational guidance before getting back in the air.
Given a choice of being late for a business meeting or spending my last moments screaming in terror while plummeting to earth in an aircraft with total engine failure, I would probably go for the former.

I agree Betty Swollocks – safety is paramount and I would rather wait than risk the lives of passengers. Besides, from a purely economic perspective, imagine the damage to an airline’s reputation if one of their aircraft crashed after not heeding proper procedures.
