It’s boxing gloves on as GSPCA boss tires of waiting for new law

Jayne Le CrasANIMAL carers are disgusted it could take a further three years for new animal welfare legislation to be complete.

They hit out after it was announced yesterday how long the law would take to be ready.

Commerce and Employment said it depended how busy the Law Officers were and the priority given animal laws.

GSPCA director Jayne Le Cras (pictured) said that enough was enough.

‘It is downright ridiculous,’ she said. ‘It is a joke, so many people have worked so hard and put in so much effort getting the welfare legislation updated.

‘Ten years ago we signed a petition and handed it to the Law Officers, so I can’t believe 10 years later, they’re telling us it is going to be another three years.’
