FIVE young Phoenix Artistic Roller Skating Club members have recently returned with two British titles between them.

The contingency from Guernsey travelled to Peterborough to compete in the 2010 British championships for their respective age groups.

Miles Corbin, the youngest member of the group having turned seven just two days before the competition, was experiencing his first British Championship at the tots level.

He was required to skate two compulsory dances and in order to achieve being crowned British champion had to reach a standard recognised and set by the governing body.

Although this year was meant to be a learning curve for Corbin, he skated perfectly in time and with some strong edges, which was recognised by the three judges, and gave him just enough marks to be awarded the British title.
