Air travellers get off the ground at last

GUERNSEY air passengers got moving yesterday.

Those trying to get on and off the island were finally able to fly as airspace restrictions imposed following eruptions by Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano were lifted.

But it was not good news for everyone as all UK-bound flights were grounded until just after noon – and for some that was too late.

A group of four friends trying to get to Spain were still in Guernsey as their easyJet flight left Gatwick.

Mark Baudains, Kelly and Lindsay Dean and Mark Brook eventually gave up on going that far south and opted for a long weekend in Jersey.
